About Becky

I am a New York state certified teacher and have a Bachelors degree in Music Education from The University of Central Florida and Masters degree in Music Education from Temple University in Philadelphia. I also have 10+ years teaching experience with K-8 learners and a specialty in instrumental music learning..

I spent my first 5 years teaching instrumental music at a public school where I had the honor of earning Teacher of the Year in 2011. After finishing my masters degree I went back into the classroom in private school teaching general and instrumental music to 4th-8th grade students as well as assisting with

K-5 general music activities and events.

I love teaching instrumental music and making music together!

The Gift of Making Music with Others

Thank you for giving your child the gift of music-making - it is such a special, fun, and important skill! And I am grateful for the opportunity to teach and support your child in musical learning!

I’ve found in my 10+ years of teaching music that students thrive with ongoing support, instruction, and peer engagement. When students are a part of a bigger ensemble with peers, there is an energy that naturally helps motivate them to learn music. Maybe even most importantly to also experience music how it’s meant to be experienced; with people! Music is meant to be shared!

Learning an instrument can be so much fun and a lot of work! And skills like taking initiative, helping fellow students, and working as a team member within a group setting or bigger ensemble transfers way beyond music and into your child’s everyday life.

 Why Ukulele?

Ukulele is a perfect beginning instrument for young learners to pick up!

Do you have children and/or friends of different ages? This is a group environment that is great for multiple age groups. It also is great for all personality types, allowing introverted and more shy children to blend into the group, yet have that peer and teacher support they need to learn. On the flip side it allows extroverted children to lead and thrive off the social energy of the group. It really is such a great fit for everyone!

It's also a fun, low-key, budget friendly instrument that allows for early success and success breeds a love for the instrument and music! The small size and light weight makes it manageable for young learners , and it builds a transferable skill set to other instruments!

I'm thrilled to welcome your awesome child into our little ukulele ensemble and to help them experience success and joy in making music with others!

Cheers!
